Saale, 9 February 2012 -------- With its revenue andearnings figures for financial year 2011 published today, RHÖN-KLINIKUM AGhas clearly performed in line with expectations, comfortably reaching itsstated targets as in the past despite a challenging regulatory environment.'Last year's growth in patient numbers well into double digit territorydemonstrates impressively our reliable and generalised-coverage medicalcare competence as well as the high quality of our medical offering', saidWolfgang Pföhler, chairman of the Board of Management of RHÖN-KLINIKUM AG.In 2011, a total of 2,277,000 patients were treated in the Group'sfacilities. This translates into growth of 11.5 % compared with the yearbefore. Revenues rose over the same period by 3.0 % to reach EUR 2.63billion. During the reporting period, net consolidated profit stood at EUR161 million, exceeding the figure of the same period in 2010 by 11.0 %. In2011, operating EBITDA was EUR 337 million, which corresponds to a 9.8 %rise compared with the previous year. Reported EBITDA was moreover boostedby a one-off, non-operative extraordinary effect in the amount of EUR 17million.'Despite tougher framework conditions and substancial price pressures, wedemonstrated last year that providing high-quality medical care foreveryone can be reconciled to demanding economic objectives within theGerman healthcare system. That is something we are proud of. We once againexpect rising demand at our hospitals accompanied by correspondinglyearnings contributions', said Dr. Erik Hamann, CFO at RHÖN-KLINIKUM AG.'Our high capacity to invest, which is ultimately fed from the surplusesgenerated by our hospitals, is what forms the basis of sustainable,efficient and thus also affordable hospital care. During the past financialyear, for example, we opened new buildings in Gießen, Marburg, Hildesheim,Erlenbach and Munich. At the same time this is the starting point for oursound growth course whose core element is the focus on sustainable andintegrated care structures.
