RHÖN-KLINIKUM Group acquires interest of Free State of Thuringia

Today the contract was notarised for the sale of the 25.3 per cent interest held by the Free State of Thuringia in Fachkrankenhaus für Psychiatrie und Neurologie Hildburghausen GmbH. The parties agreed to maintain secrecy regarding the purchase price.

The specialised hospital was privatised in December 2001. The Free State of Thuringia and RHÖN-KLINIKUM AG became shareholders in the privatised company with an interest of 25.3 per cent and 74.7 per cent respectively. The listed hospital group with headquarters in the Rhön now holds 100 per cent of the company’s assets.

The chairman of the Board of Management of Rhön-Klinikum AG, Wolfgang Pföhler, was pleased with the outcome of the negotiations, although he does regret losing the Free State of Thuringia as a reliable shareholder interested in the development of the specialised hospital in Hildburghausen.

Fachkrankenhaus Hildburghausen treats some 4,000 patients each year on an inpatient and outpatient basis. For years the hospital has enjoyed a constantly high occupancy rate of around 90 per cent. The specialised facility inter alia has over 50 beds in neurology, 240 beds/places in adult psychiatry, 32 beds/places in paediatric and juvenile psychiatry and the forensic department has bed capacities for 65 patients.
