Saale/Frankfurt am Main, 12 March 2002 ----- The Board ofManagement of Rhön-Klinikum AG announces by way of this ad-hoc informationthatthe Board received notice today at 16.45 hours (local time) that theGuttenbergfamily has sold its share in the ordinary share capital of Rhön-KlinikumAG,Bad Neustadt, to HVB Group. The parties have agreed to maintain secrecy onthepurchase price.In the light of increasingly tight public budgets, Rhön-Klinikum AGexpects astrong trend towards privatisations over the coming years, which will notinthe least place affect the hospital sector. The ongoing health reform willintensify this process, given that significantly higher efficiency in thefieldof hospital services will be required in the future. Therefore, the BoardofManagement believes that the above transaction should be judged positivelywitha view to the ever increasing need to finance future growth.
