Bad Neustadt / Saale, 5th May 2017
In the first quarter of the financial year 2017 a total of 212,187 patients were treated in the hospitals of RHÖN-KLINIKUM AG. Revenues for the same period amounted to € 300.1 million with earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) standing at € 25.5 million.
Annual General Meeting on 7th June 2017
The Board of Management and Supervisory Board shall propose to this year’s ordinary Annual General Meeting on 7th June 2017 in Frankfurt/Main the distribution of a dividend from the net consolidated profit in the amount of € 0.35 per non-par share. This results in a dividend amount of almost € 23.4 million based on the current number of roughly 67 million shares.
Outlook
For the current financial year 2017 we expect revenues of between € 1.20 billion and € 1.23 billion. This is particularly adversely affected by the latest regulatory legislation, such as lower remuneration for special orthopaedic and cardiological services or the recently introduced discount for lower overheads in the area of additional services.
We expect EBITDA of between € 85 million and € 105 million for 2017. This includes negative effects in a low two-digit million figure for additional expenditure due to the digital transformation of medical processes and one-off burdens because of corporate restructuring. There is, however, also a positive effect from a possible dissolution of the structural financing shortfall at the university hospitals in Giessen and Marburg (UKGM) in the area of separate costing.
“Following the changes in the Board of Management which took place in the first quarter we are now concentrating on improving the profitability of the company as well as going ahead with our projects for the future,” CEO Stephan Holzinger stated. “This is currently our campus concept linking in-patient and out-patient services more closely across various medical areas and also including downstream services, such as rehabilitation and care in the home. State-of-the-art digital technology and our WebEPA+ system for electronic patient records will be in use here. Our campus concept - ideally applied for the first time in our new hospital building in Bad Neustadt - is a completely new approach in providing forward-looking medical care in rural areas and also offers our company viable prospects for growth.”
