Takeover of Heinz-Kalk-Krankenhaus in Bad Kissingen: Notarisation of purchase agreement

On signing and notarisation of the purchase agreement, RHÖN-KLINIKUM AG takes over Heinz-Kalk-Krankenhaus GmbH & Co. KG effective 1 January 2006. The German Cartel Office has given its approval for the deal.

The 86-bed specialist hospital provides acute care in the area of internal medicine focusing on gastroenterology and hepatology. Nearly 3,000 patients have been treated each year with some 140 employees.

Operating at full capacity, Heinz-Kalk-Krankenhaus been profitable even after the introduction of DRGs (diagnosis related groups = remuneration based on case flat rates). This was also one of the key reasons for the interest of RHÖN-KLINIKUM AG in acquiring the specialist hospital.

In addition, the close meshing of the gastro-hepatological capacities of Heinz-Kalk-Krankenhauses with the healthcare offering of St. Elisabeth-Krankenhaus in Bad Kissingen, which already belongs to the RHÖN-KLINIKUM Group, creates the basis for better exploiting the site’s state-of-the-art medical-technical capabilities in terms of the quality of healthcare provided to and for the patient.
