Bad Neustadt a. d. Saale, 11 February 2011 ----- RHÖN-KLINIKUM AG, as in the past years, comfortably reached its targets for revenues and earnings in the past financial year 2010. This is seen from the preliminary figures published today. “The number of patients using our medical offering cleared the two million mark for the first time. For many years our patients have trusted the Company’s reliable and local medical care and thus confirm in an impressive manner the quality of our medical offering”, said Wolfgang Pföhler, chairman of the Board of Management of RHÖN-KLINIKUM AG.

In 2010, a total of 2,041,782 patients were treated in the Group’s facilities. That represents a rise of 13.4%. During the same period, revenues rose by 10.0 per cent to 2.55 billion euros. Net consolidated profit increased as forecast by 10.2 per cent to reach 145.1 million euros. Compared with the previous year, EBITDA was raised by 7.6 per cent to 305.4 million euros.

“A large part of the surpluses generated by our hospitals in 2010 are reinvested in innovative medical projects within our hospital network. These projects make good medical care affordable in the first place and – as always – serve the interests of our patients. In 2011 we expect a further expansion in our medical care offering and corresponding growth in profits. We are confident that there will be numerous opportunities to expand our medical care offering. Based on our strong financial situation we are able to make use of these opportunities”, said Dr. Erik Hamann, CFO of RHÖN-KLINIKUM AG.

The Company confirms its forecast for 2011. Despite challenging conditions for the remuneration of services, it expects revenues of roughly 2.65 billion euros. This revenue target is accompanied by a forecast for EBITDA of 340 million euros and for net consolidated profit of 160 million euros, both of which may fluctuate within a range of plus or minus 5 per cent.

“By continuously promoting and expanding our high-quality medical offering for everyone and investing in new procedures and treatment methods, we are making a reliable contribution to healthcare system. Despite the healthcare reform and difficult framework conditions, we are continuing unwaveringly on our growth course”, Pföhler concluded.
